Your application date matters

The BACB says a complete application, payment, and required documents must be received by December 31, 2026 to be reviewed under the 2022 requirements. Applications under the 2027 requirements follow revised fieldwork rules and forms. Do not assume the date you finished your hours determines the rules.

If your timing is uncertain

Review the BACB transition guide with your supervisor. The BACB recommends meeting both sets of requirements and completing both monthly forms when you may apply on either side of January 1, 2027. Track supervisor contacts and observation minutes separately and retain documentation for seven years.

• 2022 framework: 20–130 hours per month; concentrated fieldwork requires 10% supervision and one client observation monthly.
• 2027 framework: 20–160 hours per supervisory period; concentrated fieldwork requires 7.5% supervision and 90 minutes of client observation; regular supervised fieldwork requires 5% supervision and 60 minutes of observation.
• A 2027 concentrated period with only 7.5% supervision does not satisfy the 2022 concentrated 10% requirement.
